turning point marouane chamakh put the ligue 1 side ahead after 12 minutes but the lead was short lived as henrik larsson, on what could be his final professional appearance, equalised five minutes later. the match turned when adama tamboura was dismissed just after the hour mark for helsingborg, and bordeaux wasted little time in making the extra man count as jussiê added a second on 69 minutes.

wasteful finishing gabriel obertan, fernando cavenaghi and jussie all wasted further chances for bordeaux and the hosts were almost made to pay for their profligacy, when ramé tipped a larsson effort round the post late on.
