• ciro ımmobile opens scoring for dortmund inside three minutes • both teams have goals adjudged offside in frenetic first half • substitute adrián ramos strikes twice after interval for visitors • dortmund move three points clear at top of group d • next games: anderlecht v arsenal, galatasaray v dortmund (22 october)
borussia dortmund showed once again that uefa champions league nights bring out the best in them as they set aside their domestic troubles to beat rsc anderlecht 3-0 and move three points clear in group d.
jürgen klopp's men travelled to brussels having lost twice and drawn once since sweeping aside arsenal fc on matchday one, but looked every bit a team in form when ciro ımmobile struck inside three minutes. the visitors were quicker of thought and feet, yet were made to wait for the comfort of a second goal, substitute adrián ramos ending a brief spell of anderlecht pressure and then claiming a second for good measure.
despite still being dogged by injuries, dortmund hardly resembled the side that has struggled in the bundesliga as they began swarming around their opponents, and that energetic approach quickly found reward. shinji kagawa's superb lofted pass sent ımmobile free on goal and the ıtalian international added to his effort against arsenal with a calm finish.
previously unbeaten this season, anderlecht were the team in trouble now, and although they soon had a goal ruled out for offside, dortmund ought to have registered again when pierre-emerick aubameyang slotted wide from kevin grosskreutz's dangerous cross. the action was unrelenting, and bvb came back for more when silvio proto was forced to stop with his legs from the stumbling aubameyang.
another goal was starting to seem inevitable, and grosskreutz thought it was his when he beat proto to the ball and finished via a post – only for a flag to be raised. proto then denied marcel schmelzer at his near post, with besnik hasi's defence struggling to cope with the pace and movement of the opposition.
les mauves managed to stem the flow a little before the break, though proto continued to endure a busy night after the restart as both aubameyang and ımmobile required him to make saves. chancel mbemba nonetheless gave the locals a lift with a curling long-range effort that sailed just over, and little by little anderlecht began forcing their way into the encounter.
the next goal fell to the side in yellow, however, ramos turning in Łukasz piszczek's perfect right-wing delivery. and although aleksandar mitrović fired against a post at the other end, ramos put the result beyond doubt when he cut inside bram nuytinck and buried the ball into the far corner. so much for 'die krise'.
