double substitution sir alex was ready to let united coast, but was made to pay for making the double substitution when lambros choutos proved anything can happen in football by firing past fabien barthez to pull one back 20 minutes from time. astonishingly, djordjevic levelled four minutes later when he stroked past barthez from the edge of the area with his weaker right foot.
scholes winner however, with six minutes of normal time remaining, scholes took the wind from the home side's sails with the winner after powering an angled shot which goalkeeper theofanis eleftheropoulos got a hand to but could not prevent nestling in the top corner.
